Damage assessment

A damage surveyor meets people in situations that often feel dramatic. Emotions run high and a lot is at stake. That is when an independent third party matters — so you get the right settlement and the right repair.

Often the insurance company contacts us for a professional basis for compensation. For complex damage we may also be asked to manage the repairs.

Damage caused by landslides, storms, storm surges, floods, earthquakes or volcanic eruptions is classed as natural damage. The surveyor must then be approved by the Norwegian Natural Perils Pool.

For major losses, such as total loss after fire, an appraisal procedure is common. The injured party and the insurer each appoint an appraiser, who together agree on a binding settlement.
